What's the Story?

HOUSE OF DAVID follows David (David Iskander), the black sheep of his family who wants to know what his purpose is in life. Over the course of the series, he realizes that his purpose relies on his belief in himself and in God, which leads him on a path towards defeating the giant Goliath (Martyn Ford).

Is It Any Good?

This series wants to bring biblical stories to the level of Game of Thrones. As far as storytelling goes, however, House of David isn't as exciting as its trailers make it out to be. Fans of biblical stories might love this series, but those who are already critical of biblical dramatizations will find fault, particularly with production company Wonder Project's statement at the beginning of the series about wanting to tell a "historical" version of biblical events.

With that said, the series doesn't do anything transformative with its more historical focus. The series feels like other dramatic biblical portrayals, in which the series is treated too seriously to find fun within the characters and storyline. Overall, House of David is fine, but expect to be potentially bored.
