What's the Story?

In IRONHEART, Riri Williams works on a technological innovation that could change the world. The catch? She can't afford to build it. After she's expelled from school following an accident at the lab, Riri is approached by The Hood, a con man who promises to invest in her work if she shares her genius. But when Riri starts to question the ethics of their ways, the partnership turns into direct opposition. Riri must step up to defeat her loved ones before The Hood can finish her off.

A gripping ending to the MCU's Phase 5, this series has potential to be a turning point for the Marvel original shows. Ironheart features complex and fully realized characters, and embraces the cinematic universe without alienating new viewers. With just a few action sequences and a well-balanced supernatural plot, the series is a great watch for the whole family.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about the inequalities in tech shown in Ironheart. Riri has talent and amazing ideas but doesn't have the resources to pursue them. How do you see the opportunities in tech in real life? Does everyone have access to it, or even to the internet?

  • Joe has idealistic ideas for tech but ends up doing things differently. What do you think influences the ideas that get made? What interests are behind those decisions?

  • N.A.T.A.L.I.E. is a powerful AI system that bypasses its programming. Do you think this is a realistic view of AI?

  • Mental health struggles are often invisible. How can we support peers going through traumatic events like Riri?
