What's the Story?

IS IT CAKE? VALENTINE'S is an installment of the Is It Cake? franchise that celebrates love in a baked form. Hosted by Mikey Day, it features three baking couples creating cakes that look like romantic objects that represent something about their relationships. They also answer questions about their relationships. When the bake is over, the couples try to fool judges Ashlee Simpson, Evan Ross, David Case, and Casey Wilson. If someone on the panel identifies a cake among decoys, its creators are eliminated. If the judges are deceived, the couple remains in the running for a $5K prize and a chance to play for a second honeymoon. Throughout it all, viewers are invited to participate in specific decoy challenges during interactive segments.

This bright, love-themed cake baking competition features the expected competitive and lighthearted fun the Is It Cake? franchise is known for. But In the spirit of St. Valentine's Day, as they mix ingredients and mold their cakes into replicas of real objects, the likable married or romantically partnered couples talk about how they met, proposed, and what they do in the kitchen. Their sweet masterpieces are also intended to represent something special about their lives together. Meanwhile, Mikey Day's energetic, over-the-top hosting style helps make the viewer interaction segments more interesting, which is helpful given that neither TV viewers nor their responses are featured on the show. Fans of the franchise and fans of incredible cakes will surely find Is it Cake? Valentine's to their taste.
