What's the Story?

Legendary South Korean entertainer Yu Jae-seok steps into the role of chief of staff to run a unique bed-and-breakfast that operates more like a summer camp for adults than a restful retreat. Alongside co-stars Lee Kwang-soo, Byeon Woo-seok, and Ji Ye-eun, the club welcomes a large group of guests for a strict three-day, two-night stay in JAE-SEOK'S B&B RULES! The rules are simple: guests cannot leave, and they must fully throw themselves into the fantasy by promising to talk non-stop and play hard. Through a series of Jae-seok's signature variety games, the crew sets out to give these hard-working adults a memorable, connective escape.

This reality show blends the high-energy antics of classic Korean variety shows with the chaos of watching pampered TV stars trying to do menial labor. Much of the comedy of Jae-Seok's B&B Rules! stems from watching a legendary multi-decade entertainer like Jae-seok struggle as an ordinary everyman, learning to plunge toilets and frantically cook breakfast for 20 people while whimsical subtitles poke fun at him and his crew for "taking forever to make eggs."

Nevertheless, the chemistry between the staff and guests is sweetly charming; their playful banter and enthusiastic feedback (a.k.a. blunt criticism) feels authentic rather than mean-spirited. Backed by playful graphics and a setting that feels eerily like a benevolent version of Squid Game, the show perfectly balances laugh-out-loud game sequences with quiet, restorative moments of genuine connection. It's a lighthearted and easily digestible watch for families and variety fans alike.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about how in Jae-Seok's B&B Rules! the crew frequently asks each other for honest feedback so they can run the B&B well, and no one gets their feelings hurt. How can your family practice giving and taking advice at home without it turning into an argument?

  • Jae-seok's main goal is to create a safe place where his guests can completely forget about their stressful jobs and just laugh. Why is protecting our rest time just as important as working hard?

  • Yu Jae-seok and his team are very good at naming their emotions, like admitting when their confidence suddenly drops or they want to go home. Why can telling someone that you feel anxious or nervous give you more strength instead of making you look weak?

  • Byeon Woo-seok says that even the bad or stressful parts of a trip turn into good memories when you look back. Can you think of a time when a mistake or a disaster ended up being a funny or important family story later on?
