What's the Story?

In KARATE SHEEP, Wolf is always scheming new ways for sheep Wanda and Trico to meet their demise. Wanda, a martial arts enthusiast, is always quick to anger and likes to use her strength to fight Wolf. Trico has a neverending supply of gadgets hidden in his wool coat, and deploys things like super-strength bubbles or a robot lawn mower in his anti-Wolf efforts. Both the sheep and Wolf are pretty hapless, and everything goes wrong as they try to defend themselves. The situation gets sillier and sillier, until Wolf meets his eventual slapstick end.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 3 ):
Kids say ( 3 ):

This show is trying to follow in the footsteps of the classic funny wordless escapades of vintage cartoons, but it falls quite flat. The setups in Karate Sheep are just not that humorous, and the main characters are not very sympathetic. Since there aren't many redeeming qualities here, kids and parents can look elsewhere for slapstick funnies.

  • Families can talk about the gender roles of Wanda and Trico in Karate Sheep. In what ways is Wanda not like typical girl characters in cartoons? How do her negative qualities undercut any girl-power potential?

  • Why do you think the makers of this show decided not to have any dialogue (speaking) between the characters? Do you think they did a good job telling the stories without words?
