What's the Story?
KYLIE chronicles the life of actress and singer Kylie Minogue. From being a young actress on the Australian soap opera Neighbours to becoming an international pop sensation and major gay icon, Kylie reflects on the evolution of her career and the many ways she's reinvented herself over four decades. She also shares her thoughts about coping with fame, struggling with loss, and her fight against breast cancer. Folks who have worked with Kylie at different stages of her career, including song writer Peter Waterman and indie singer Nick Cave, share details about what it was like. Members of her close-knit family, including her sister, actress, and singer Dannii Minogue, offer insights into who Kylie is when she's not in the public eye. Rounding it all out are family photographs and videos, along with archive footage of Kylie's acting and singing performances, public interviews, and other media coverage about her over the years.
Is It Any Good?
The docuseries offers an intimate and largely first-person look at Kylie Minogue's successful entertainment career. While the actress and singer mainly talks about events that media has covered over the years, this three-part TV production allows her the chance to share some of the feelings she was having about them at the time. Granted, the artist is careful about what she chooses to share, but what she talks about, including how she remembers her late ex-boyfriend, INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, and her ongoing health issues, feels genuine. But most of Kylie's focus is on the creative choices Minogue has made over the years in order to evolve as a performer and live the life that she wants. There's no doubt that this docuseries will appeal to her fans around the world.
