Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is very much like its American counterpart. If you're already a fan of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, you might easily love the Toronto version. However, it's worth noting that Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent isn't trying to do anything different than the original. Detective Sergeant Graff (Young), for example, is a similar type of puzzling, off-beat intellectual that Vincent D'Onofrio's Det. Goren is in the original. Similarly, Detective Sergeant Bateman (Munroe) is a similar pragmatic type like Kathryn Erbe's Detective Eames.

While some--or most--elements of the series feel like copy-and-paste, fans of procedurals might like the comforting feeling the series brings. You know what to expect, and that can help fans who rely on procedurals to ease their anxiety about real world situations. In short, don't go into the series expecting it to reinvent the wheel, even if it is in a new locale.
