What's the Story?

In LEGO DISNEY PRINCESS: VILLAINS UNITE, Disney princesses band together to thwart villains and a bog monster in a world where everything and everyone are made out of Legos. Beauty and the Beast's Gaston (Richard White) plans to reclaim the castle for himself by recruiting a team of Disney villains: Ursula (Debra Wilson), Jafar (Jonathan Freeman), Evil Queen (Susanne Blakeslee), and Sir Hiss (Henri Lubatti). To seal the deal, he's invited the bog monster Chernabog to join his evil team. Snow White (Katie Von Till) gets wind of the plot, and prepares the rest of the princesses to fight the villains. The princesses hail from many Disney movies: the team is Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Belle (Julie Nathanson), Aurora (Kate Higgins), Cinderella (Jennifer Hale), Ariel (Jodi Benson), Moana (Auli'i Cravalho), and Rapunzel (Mandy Moore). With their teamwork and unwavering belief in good conquering evil, the princesses come together to save the day.

Our review:

Kids say ( 1 ):

This special is great fun for fans of the Disney princesses and the Lego movies. The princesses in Villains Unite, especially the more damsel-in-distress characters from earlier Disney movies, get their due. They save themselves in this story, and gleefully seek revenge on the evil villains from their past. It's delightful to see the princesses from different Disney universes interacting. Like the Lego movies, this special is very funny and complete with in-jokes for adult and kid Disney fans alike. The plot is straightforward and the message isn't very deep, but it doesn't matter. Lego Disney Princess: Villains Unite is fantastically entertaining for kids and grown-ups (at least for grown-ups who don't mind the toy purchasing requests this mash-up is sure to inspire).
