What's the Story?

In LOVE NEVER LIES, a Fantasy Island-type scenerio unfolds, where an elegant, reserved Spanish celebrity invites six couples to put their relationships to the test in a villa that they share with other couples whom they've never met. The couples have undergone an eye-scan lie-detector test and must answer questions that the hostess asks of them. If they tell the truth, they earn money that goes to the collective pot. If they lie, money is deducted. Can the young couples maintain their dignity as they learn the truth about their partners? Will anyone come out of the game unscathed?

Hedonism strikes again in this Spanish reality show where young women are santily clad -- or ridiculed for their outfits if not -- and men have six-packs and are ready to talk fast about lies they've told. In Love Never Lies winning money is the goal, but the costs run much higher.

It's hard to stop peeking under the rock when watching this series: It dives into uncomfortable tangles and throws new personalities into the mix. There are some moments when people work out their issues, and some really cringy moments when the emotional laundry is aired while everyone watches. Teens will be tempted to watch this series with friends and compare notes. Adults might get hooked on the pure voyeuristic rush. But be aware this is reality television that bruises the participants -- in the name of truth.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about how truth and lies are valued in Love Never Lies. Can you place a price on integrity?

  • The people in this show have cheated on each other and lied to cover their tracks. How does it make you feel to see people modeling this behavior? Do they exhibit good self-control?

  • This show uses technology to tell whether someone is really telling the truth. Is this similar to cyberbullying? Or is it OK because the participants of the series choose to be scrutinized by others?
