What's the Story?

LOVE & WWE: BIANCA & MONTEZ is a reality series featuring a married wrestling couple's road to WWE's WrestleMania. Bianca Belair is a three-time singles match winner and a WWE Championship title holder. Montez, a WWE tag team champion in his own right, is working toward winning his own titles. But outside of the ring, they enjoy living their lives as a married couple. It's not easy trying to achieve work-life balance, especially when they're both part of a franchise that requires nonstop hard work, commitment, and sacrifice in order to be successful. Agreeing on some shared personal goals can also be challenging, especially when the two are at different stages in their careers. Nonetheless, they are committed to each other and their families as much as they are to pro wrestling.

The earnest reality doc showcases the personal lives of one of pro wrestling's power couples, and what their life is like both in and outside of the ring. Beginning with WWE's Royal Rumble, cameras follow Bianca Belair and Montez Ford for 10 weeks as they each compete in their own matches, train, and strategize their way toward WrestleMania. But as they pursue their individual trajectories towards WWE's flagship event, the couple is also negotiating the next steps in their marriage, including having children. It also highlights some of the dynamics within the franchise that they must also contend with, especially when it comes to remaining visible to fans, which they believe will create more opportunities for up-and-coming Black wrestlers. Love & WWE does still include typical reality fare, including some conversations and reactions that feel a bit preplanned. Nonetheless, it offers a reasonably legitimate take on how two wrestlers who love their sport are happily working hard at their careers and their marriage, despite the everyday challenges and setbacks they face throughout the process.

  • In Love & WWE, Bianca Belair and Montez Ford talk about the importance of being visible as they get ready for WrestleMania. How much control do they have over how much they get to be seen in the ring? Why?
