What's the Story?
MISS SHERLOCK (Yûko Takeuchi) is a brilliant detective, but those who have consulted with her might say that "her personality sucks." After Dr. Wato (Shihori Kanjiya) returns from Syria, she gets involved in one of Sherlock's cases. Their personalities frequently clash: Sherlock has a harsh way of working and interacting with others, which is in stark contrast to Wato's more empathetic approach. Soon they find themselves paired together as an unofficial team to solve gruesome cases across Japan.
Is It Any Good?
Yes, it's a typical crime drama, but one can't help but be intrigued and amused by Sherlock's wild behavior, or her keen detective skills. Miss Sherlock is a refreshing female-led approach to the original namesake, especially within the crime genre. The elements of comedy, absurdity, mystery, and varying degrees of violence make it an entertaining watch for older viewers.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about different personalities in Miss Sherlock. Sherlock's harsh way of doing things is a stark contrast to Wato's more empathetic approach. How do people respond to these methods? Do you think one is better than the other? Is there value in these personalities?
Does it make a difference that this is a female-led version? How does that affect the story (if it does)?
How does this version of the series compare to the others? What's similar, and what's different? Do you think one's better than the other? Why or why not?
