What's the Story?

In MY BROTHER THE MINOTAUR, Lorcan (voiced by Ely Solan) is a teenage minotaur living with a seemingly normal family of humans in an Irish island community. When he starts to feel his powers growing, he's not sure whether it's just regular getting-older stuff, or related to being a minotaur. His younger brother, Charlie (Billy Jenkins), tries to get to the bottom of Lorcan's nightmares and sleepwalking, along with best friends Harper (Luciana Akpobaro) and Dana (Billie Boullet). Their investigations uncover a truth they never could have imagined and lead them to places strange and unknown. Can they stop the evil forces brewing within the island, or is Lorcan destined to meet an untimely end?

This is a stellar show that kids and parents alike will love. Kids will be enthralled by My Brother the Minotaur's mythological world intertwining with real life, and grown-ups will love how the myths cleverly dovetail with coming-of-age themes. Kid viewers into mythology or fantasy will be especially drawn in, though the storylines manage to be relatable to all kids. Grown-ups will appreciate the strong role models who are in loving, healthy sibling and peer relationships.

The show is produced by the Irish studios behind The Secret of Kells and Puffin Rock, and has similarly gorgeous visuals with nods to Celtic culture. While aimed at kids, adults will also enjoy the storylines, making My Brother the Minotaur a great show to watch as a family.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about how the characters have empathy for one another. How do Lorcan's family and friends try to put themselves in his shoes and help him with emotionally tough things?

  • The four kids in this show are really good at communicating their feelings with each other, even when things are hard. Can you think of a time in a show when a character opened up about their feelings and it helped them in one way or another?

  • Many of the characters show a tremendous amount of courage. Do you think you'd be able to be brave if you were in similar situations?
