This Nigerian show is an important but gut-wrenching watch. Oloture: The Journey is full of dark and disturbing themes; with brutal realism the series takes a harrowing look at the horrors of human trafficking. The women in the series give heartfelt performances but viewers should be warned of the almost nonstop scenes of violence or threats of violence.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about the depiction of human trafficking. Ask teens what they've learned about these sorts of issues in school or what they're seeing in social media.

  • Even teens can get frightened or upset. You can help by having honest discussion and reassurances. Remind your child that they can take a break if their emotional engagement feels too intense. Consider asking if any of the scary content they watch bothers them later.
