What's the Story?
Peppa and George are going on a summer adventure with their grandparents on a cruise ship. While they've been on boats before, this is their first time on a cruise. Peppa and George are excited to discover all the fun activities on board: the paddling pool, the soft playroom, the cinema, and George's favorite, the potato ride. Peppa even makes a new friend! The family also explores a tropical island. The kids sometimes miss their parents, but they don't let it spoil their fun.
Is It Any Good?
The special is pleasant enough for a family afternoon, but forgettable in the long run. A stronger theme with social lessons could have made it more impactful. That said, fans of Peppa Pig will be pleased, for it repeats everything they like about the show, including Peppa's characteristic enthusiasm, while it also introduces new sets and friends like the Pirate and the Mermaid, who put on an exciting magic show. There are even some subtle jokes for the parents, done in a subtle way that won't take away from the kids' experience. Overall, it's a purely entertaining family experience that may feel designed to expand Peppa's toy lines.
