A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Planet Sex With Cara Delevingne is a docuseries hosted by the actress/model/personality. On each episode, the host travels to different areas of the world and investigates a different area of human sexuality. Parents can expect a lot of frank talk: About body parts, about the way humans are aroused and express their sexuality, about orgasms. There's no nudity, but we see many visuals of people kissing, dancing provocatively, and wearing skimpy costumes, looking at and talking about sex toys. Language is also frank, from occasional expletives ("f--k," "f--king") to clinical words about sexuality to slang ("p---y," "morning wood"). The vibe is respectful and educational; people from many different walks of life are heard from and treated with dignity. Host Delevingne is thoughtful, and often articulates her insights in a positive, uplifting way.

What's the Story?
When human sexuality happens, PLANET SEX WITH CARA DELEVINGNE wants to know how. Hosted by the model/actress known for her own relationships, this docuseries investigates areas of human sexual behavior, as well as sexual orientation and gender identity with a fun, female-centric perspective.
Is It Any Good?
Equal parts playful and earnest, this docuseries explores many areas of sexuality, yielding a series that's genuinely a pleasure and an education. Delevingne is a thoughtful host who seems sincerely curious about the people she meets and what they have to tell her about sexuality: How the body works, how desires line up with external forces, how people reconcile their public and private lives. Delevingne is also pretty fearless in terms of trying things herself in front of the camera. A early season highlight involves the host wearing a probe that measures blood flow to her vagina while she watches different types of pornography; later, we accompany her to a cosmetic surgeon where she's frank about her not-so-nice opinions about her looks.
But Planet Sex isn't all about Delevingne and her desires. It also investigates areas of human sexuality in a way that comes off as curious and respectful instead of gimmicky and exploitative. Planet Sex even, sometimes, veers off sensationalist topics more typical of sex-focused reality shows. An episode looks into what's been called the "orgasm gap": Why do women in heterosexual relationships orgasm less often than men? It's a fresh, modern topic for what feels like a fresh, modern take on sex.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how sexuality is presented on TV and in movies. What do sex scenes usually show? Do we see different types of people relating to each other sexually -- or different types of sexuality depicted -- in this series? Are these images positive? What impact can this content potentially have on viewers, especially kids?
Conventional wisdom says that it's impossible to depict truth on camera, because the presence of the camera affects what people are willing to show. How does this dynamic affect Planet Sex With Cara Delevingne? Are participants guarded? Should they be? Do they ever let their guard down? If yes, how is this evidenced?
How do the participants on Planet Sex demonstrate empathy and communication? Why are these important character strengths?
