What's the Story?
PROFESSIONALS is an action series about a former counterintelligence agent turned security operative hired to protect the interests of a billionaire. When a rocket launched by futurist Peter Swann's (Brendan Fraser) company carrying Panacea, a medical data satellite developed by Dr. Grace Davila (Elena Anaya) to detect potential pandemics before they spread, they have great hopes of saving people from global catastrophes. But when the rocket explodes during takeoff, Peter believes it was sabotaged. He hires Vincent Corbo (Tom Welling) and his security team to help him figure out who's responsible. It's not the most comfortable situation, given that Grace, who's Peter's fiancé, is Vince's former lover. But this doesn't stop them from uncovering a mass conspiracy to take control of the tech mogul's company.
Is It Any Good?
This average series, an international production that originally streamed in Europe, features international locations and action-filled sequences to create a sense of mystery and adventure. Professionals offers some occasional fun moments, but mediocre writing turns what could be a good story to one weighed down by a lack of character development and trite dialogue. Unfortunately, there are no high-end stunts or computer graphics to compensate for this, either. If you're willing to look past these shortcomings, Professionals may be worth watching to see actors you've liked. But if you're looking for an exciting action-adventure series, you'll be left disappointed.
