What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Queer Eye: Germany sticks to the Queer Eye formula by emphasizing diversity, kindness, and acceptance of self and others. People are regularly shown overcoming adversity and prejudice, working through insecurities, and learning from and helping others. Perseverance, empathy, selflessness and loving relationships are highlighted. The show includes a range of ethnicities, genders, and sexual identities. One of the cast members identifies as non-binary, another as "a gay Turk," and a third is often judged for his many piercings as well as his face and body tattoos. There are stories of death and loss, depression and anxiety. Suicidal thoughts are briefly mentioned. There is the occasional use of words like "s--t" and very infrequently, "f--k." There are also mentions of people looking "sexy" and "hot." Dating is discussed, and sometimes shown, and the cast lightly flirts with the people being featured after their makeovers.

What's the Story?
In this spin-off of the extremely popular American version, QUEER EYE: GERMANY features a new, German Fab Five who seek to help some of the country's people to overcome their insecurities and refine their wardrobes, grooming, diet, cultural pursuits, and home decor.
Is It Any Good?
Though similar in many ways, this feel good makeover show manages to surpass its American counterpart by pumping up the moments of genuine connection. The new Fab Five featured in Queer Eye: Germany are a warm, diverse and insightful bunch. Add in the five ridiculously deserving souls they found to makeover, and it becomes nearly impossible for the viewer to get through the season with heartstrings intact. The show keeps to the franchise's formula of finding worthy individuals who are in serious need of a confidence boost.
In this version, though, the Fab Five are mostly given the benefit of the doubt instead of spending time each episode having to prove themselves to their subjects. Yes, David has face tattoos and a lot of piercings and Leni identifies as non-binary. No, not more than two minutes are spent dwelling on either. As a result, the show reaches a new plane of acceptance and emerges as one of the most real reality shows on TV. The occasional swear word not withstanding, Queer Eye: Germany is an endearingly worthwhile watch for anyone old enough to keep up with the subtitles.
