Diverse Representations
some
The crew of the Demeter is diverse in gender and perceived ethnicity. Not much is revealed about the characters' heritage and their lives before the Demeter. However, they have different skin tones that suggest ethnic diversity. The cast for the show mirrors that diversity with actors of Indian, Nigerian, Iraqi, Scottish, Iranian-American, Korean, and American heritage. The animation was created by an international team from Mexico, Spain, Portugal and France.
SCAVENGERS REIGN follows the surviving crew of The Demeter, a cargo spaceship that's been stranded on an unfamiliar planet. Three groups, separated by the crash landing, take on wondrous but perilous journeys as they make their way back to the main ship.
This bizarre but beautiful sci-fi adult cartoon is a weird and touching reminder that life goes on amidst all odds. Scavengers Reign blends introspective slice-of-life drama with deadly action and adventure in an abstract but compelling story. The show's morally gray characters and ambiguous themes leave viewers with a lot to ponder. It's a good starting point for deeper conversations on philosophy, nature of humanity, society, and hope.
