What's the Story?

SEC FOOTBALL: ANY GIVEN SATURDAY follows U.S. college football's Southeastern Conference (SEC) during the 2024 season. It chronicles the journeys of the Kentucky Wildcats, South Carolina Gamecocks, Florida Gators, Tennessee Volunteers, and six other teams from the beginning of the season until the playoffs. Each episode jumps between teams, showing how they practice, interact in locker rooms, talk to media, engage in pre-game rituals, and, of course, play hard on the field for the wins. Interviews with coaches and players of each football program, along with some of their family members, offer insights into the pressures they are all facing, their hopes for the future, and how they are feeling throughout. They all play hard, with dreams of going to (and winning) the playoffs, and some players are hoping to join the NFL, but they have to take it game by game and be on point every Saturday of the season.

This energetic documentary series is designed to celebrate what some consider to be the most elite football conference in the United States while promoting the upcoming SEC season. Produced by the folks who brought us F1: Drive to Survive and Break Point, Any Given Saturday's storytelling formula feels familiar as it delivers the behind-the-scenes action and some of the best and worst plays. These scenes, while expected, usually still feel authentic, making the series appealing to college football fans. However, die-hard SEC devotees might be disappointed by the absence of some of the conference's more well-known teams, like Ole Miss and Alabama Crimson Tide. Nonetheless, SEC Football: Any Given Saturday offers viewers the chance to see up-and-coming players, dedicated coaches, and collegiate programs that are rising up in the ranks along with some solid football.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about the SEC. What is it about the college football programs and fans that make it so prominent?

  • Would SEC Football: Any Given Saturday be better if some of its strongest teams (like Ole Miss) had been featured? Or would the stories about them dominate the series' overall narrative?
