Sheriff Country
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
SHERIFF COUNTRY follows Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin), an interim sheriff who isn't sure if she wants to run for the office officially. As sheriff, she wants to do what she can to keep her town safe from harm. But her personal life also takes precedence, including her ex-husband and local lawyer Travis (Christopher Gorham), who';s dating her deputy Cassidy (Michele Weaver); daughter Skye (Amanda Arcuri), who is fighting to stay sober from OxyContin; and father Wes (W. Earl Brown), who was once on the bad side of the law, but now is going straight.
Is It Any Good?
This is a familiar procedural drama—it's a series that's led by a character who's committed to her job while dealing with personal and family strife. Much like many other procedurals, the success of Sheriff Country comes in part because of its comfortable predictability. You know the crimes will get solved, family issues will be addressed, and some lingering storylines will have enough meat on the bones to keep you coming back for the next episode.
Sheriff Country differs from many procedural shows because it does have a female lead in Baccarin, and she does her best to feel as formidable and complex as her character demands. Overall, Sheriff Country is a fine addition to CBS' block of action-dramas.
