Sirius the Jaeger
What's the Story?
SIRIUS THE JAEGER takes place in the 1930s and focuses on Yuliy (voiced by Yuto Uemura in the original Japanese), a member of a group of hunters known as The Jaegers that specialize in hunting vampires. A horde of vampires has infiltrated Japan in search of a mystical and powerful artifact known as the Ark of Sirius, with which vampires will be powerful enough to rule the world. The Jaegers, though, are in hot pursuit of these vampires and will do everything in their power to prevent them from acquiring the mystical Ark of Sirius.
Is It Any Good?
This dark fantasy anime about vampire hunters showed promise but ultimately fell flat. Sirius the Jaeger has good animation, action, a diverse cast of characters, and a unique setting, but it fails to do anything meaningful with these strong points. The story is bland and character motivations are unclear. It's never explained what the main artifact everyone is after even does. The Jaegers are made up of diverse characters from the U.S., Britian, Ireland, Spain, Russia, etc. but their backstories are never fleshed out and disappointingly the series never explores how or why they became vampire hunters. The only redeeming qualities about this anime are its great art and animation.
