What's the Story?

In SNOOPY PRESENTS: A SUMMER MUSICAL, the Peanuts gang heads to summer camp at Cloverhill Ranch. Charlie Brown (voiced by Etienne Kellici) is super excited to return to camp, but little sister Sally (Hattie Kragten) is nervous about being away from the comforts of home for the first time. Snoopy (Terry McGurrin) and Woodstock (Rob Tinkler) set up camp in a nearby tent. Snoopy discovers a treasure map, and Charlie Brown discovers that this will be the last summer of Cloverhill Ranch due to dwindling enrollment. When Snoopy finds the "treasure," a time capsule with photos from camp throughout the years, it inspires Charlie Brown. He hatches a plan to remind camp alumni of their good times at Cloverhill Ranch, hoping to keep the camp in business. Will the Peanuts gang save the day—and the camp?

This special lives up to high expectations—it's the first new Peanuts musical in decades and follows in the footsteps of beloved Peanuts specials of yore. While Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical might not prove as timeless as earlier specials, the original songs by pop musician Ben Folds and Disney and Broadway composers Jeff Morrow, Alan Zachary, and Michael Weiner are lovely. The songs underscore the emotional highs and lows of Charlie Brown's efforts to save his beloved summer camp. The special is less melancholy than typical Peanuts fare, and instead comes with a hopeful message about environmentalism. It also features tons of old-fashioned summer camp fun, as well as classic Snoopy and Woodstock hijinks. A Summer Musical tugs at the heartstrings and will inspire grown-ups and kids alike.
