What's the Story?

SPELLBOUND, a sequel to the fantasy series Find Me in Paris (2018-2020), is about a teenage witch coming of age at the Paris L'Opera Ballet School. Cece Parker-Jones (Hailey Romain) is from a small town in the United States; her dancing talents were "discovered" on social media. After being accepted to the prestigious French school, she's relocated to Paris and being watched over by her Aunt Ginger (Raven Dauda). It's an exciting time, but the school is re-auditioning the students due to over-enrollment, and soon Cece realizes that her ballet skills don't match the expectations of choreographer Armando Castillo (Rik Young) or her fellow students, including the arrogant top male dancer Benoit Ducasse (Etienne Moana). But when she learns that she's from a powerful line of witches known as Wizens, she slowly realizes that she has the power to control her destiny. However, an evil force seems to have other ideas.

The young adult sequel combines ballet and fantasy with a coming-of-age narrative to create a fun and compelling narrative. Like its predecessor, it's a fish out of water story, but unlike Find Me in Paris, this show's set within a world of witchcraft instead of time travel. But this doesn't take away from the dance-themed series, which is filled with lighthearted moments, suspense, and even a bit of romance. Granted, some of the special effects feel a bit outdated, but Spellbound is still easy to get caught up in. Pre-teens who like its parent series will be pleased with this installment, and chances are that fantasy-loving viewers new to the franchise will also find it fun.
