Is It Any Good?

Our review:

This special is fun for Halloween and fans of horror. SpongeBob SquarePants Kreepaway Kamp delivers similar bantering, mockery and slapstick comedy from the original series along with mild suspense. Characters revisit locations from Kamp Koral, tying the spin-off into the main series. While there's a premise of horror with characters being snatched away by a gross-looking hand, it's not too scary. In the end (spoiler alert!) the story is about a friend looking for company. It's not likely to trouble kids familiar with the series, but may be upsetting for kids who fear being alone; consider it a know-your-kid kind of situation.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about the main message of SpongeBob SquarePants Kreepaway Koral. The "Kamp Creeper" was really just another kid who grew up alone and missed having company. How important is having friends to you?

  • This special parodies horror movies and mentions tropes like characters always disappearing if they're left alone. What type of movies do you like the most? Can you think of things that always happen in those types of movies?

  • Characters in the show often have right ideas but don't listen to their own advice. Why do you think it's important to listen to others and learn from their experiences? Can you think of a time when not listening caused a problem?
