What's the Story?
STAR WARS: GALAXY OF SOUNDS is exactly what the name says: each short episode is a montage of various sound effects from the Star Wars movies. All dialogue is removed from the scenes and there's no narration or music, just the sounds. Each episode explores one of seven themes: Wonder, Excitement, Dark Side, Light Side, Beeps, Connections, and Oddities.
Is It Any Good?
This unique documentary series pays homage to the sound artists behind a legendary franchise. Star Wars: Galaxy of Sounds offers a unique perspective on the role of audio in creating the iconic atmosphere and emotions of the Star Wars universe. It highlights the hard work and creativity of sound engineers in contributing to the overall mood of each scene. That being said, episodes may become boring once the novelty wears thin, especially for those who aren't die-hard fans.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how sound is used to evoke emotions in movies. What other elements can add feelings to TV and movies? How much more impactful would these scenes be if they included the movie's music as well as its sounds?
How are the sound effects made on movies? What are the job titles and descriptions of the people who make them?
What other elements of movies add to their tone? Think about things like music, lighting, pacing, costume, and set design.
