What's the Story?

SUCH BRAVE GIRLS follows three women in a dysfunctional family unit. Single mother Deb (Louise Brealey) is exasperated while trying to support her daughters, Josie (Kat Sadler) and Billie (Lizzie Davidson). In her husband's absence, Deb is trying to get back into the dating scene but finds it hard to entertain company with her daughters around. Josie struggles with her self-esteem, especially since she's had a hard time finding her footing after recently being released from the psych ward. On the other hand, Billie's extremely high self-esteem leaves her self-absorbed and reactive. When she sees her on again off again boyfriend with another girl, she becomes obsessed. In their day to day, the three women struggle to navigate relationships, mental health, and their relationships with each other.

This dark, bizarre, humorous series is a comedic exploration of self-absorption and trauma. In Such Brave Girls the dynamic between Sadler, Brealey, and Davidson is chaotic and quirky. Sadler portrays Josie's insecurities and bleak personality well. The language, sex, violence, and drinking make this suitable for older teens.
