What's the Story?

SULLIVAN'S CROSSING begins in a Boston hospital's emergency room. Dr. Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) is attending to one patient, when another patient begins to go into crisis. Managing to keep a cool demeanor, she finishes her shift and tries to shed the stress with a few deep breaths. Her boyfriend arrives, sweeping her into an awaiting limousine, and escorts her to an award ceremony where she's being honored for her work as a neurosurgeon. Upon the close of her acceptance speech, Maggie watches in horror while her boss is arrested for fraud, and she is handcuffed and taken away. Though she's absolved of any wrongdoing, her reputation is in ruins. What better idea, she reasons, than to drive to her father's place in Nova Scotia so she can take a little time off. Will she return to her busy professional life in a big city? Or will the beautiful coastal rhythms of her childhood draw her home?

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Breathtaking scenery and a sentimental soundtrack help buoy a formulaic homecoming tale. Sullivan's Crossing does a decent job of transporting the viewer to a tight-knit Canadian coastal community, but the chemistry among characters builds at arm's length.

Gilmore Girls veteran Scott Patterson and One Tree Hill's Chad Michael Murray bring some star power to this homey show, which fans will appreciate. Expect some drinking, but otherwise there's not a lot of iffy content, so families can enjoy this one together.
