What's the Story?
SUPERTATO (voiced by Alex Sawyer) is a potato superhero that lives in a supermarket with Carrot (Niamh Webb), Broccoli (Akiya Henry), and his other veggie friends. Supertato, Carrot, and Broccoli protect the supermarket from Evil Pea (Jessica DiCicco), a villain whose "evil" plans never quite work out. Pea might try to turn the veggies into frozen vegetables with her freezy ray, break into Supertato's secret headquarters, or beat Carrot to the moon cheese display. Supertato and team work together to thwart Evil Pea and her Mini Pea sidekicks, keeping the vegetable aisle safe for another day.
Is It Any Good?
While there's nothing iffy in this British show, preschoolers won't learn anything by watching. Supertato's short episodes don't offer a lot of character development or time to teach social-emotional lessons in a way preschoolers can understand. It's silly and fun, but preschoolers are unlikely to connect with Supertato in the same way as other shows.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about Evil Pea. Why do you think she does the things she does to Supertato? Why do you think she wants to be called "evil"?
What should you do if you ever see someone being mean like Evil Pea?
