What's the Story?

Ladrones: la tiara de santa Águeda, aka SUSPCIOUS MINDS, is a Spanish series about love, deception, and global thievery. Three years ago master thief Amber (Silvia Alonso) made the mistake of falling in love with her partner in crime, Rui (Álex González) during a Vegas robbery, which led to disastrous results. Now she's working as a nanny for the wealthy Villegas family, headed up by oil tycoon Emilio Villegas (Asier Etxeandia), and has joined them on the remote Pacific island known as Isla Esperanza for his adult daughter Lucia's (Julia Jaziz) wedding. The catch? Amber's planning to steal the legendary (and some argue cursed) Tiara of Santa Águeda, which Lucia will wear on her wedding day. It's a heist Amber's been working on for almost a year, but pulling it off might be harder than she expected due to the extensive security measures put in place and the presence of shrewd Serbian security agent Judith Milenovic (Milena Radulovic). Things unexpectedly get more complicated when Rui arrives on the scene, and Amber is forced to figure out whether or not she can trust him.

Is It Any Good?

The high-energy and improbable series offers lots of fun moments as a master thief tries to pull off a complicated heist while navigating an even more complicated romance. Despite their profession, Amber and Rui Suspicious Minds depicts them as likable characters, and as their plans unfold you can't help but root for them. The eclectic ensemble of assistants they eventually recruit to help them, including the island resort's chief of security Don Julio (Antonio Pagudo) and Lee (Siabon Wang), a masseuse, to steal the tiara also adds some amusement to the fray. The suspense created as the unlikely events unfold easily keeps viewers interested, even when some moments feel predictable. Nonetheless, it's the romantic tension between the two masters that creates the most worthwhile drama. Overall, if you're looking for a lighthearted, fun, bingeable series, Suspicious Minds fits the bill.
