What's the Story?
Each season of TASKMASTER pits five comedians against one another in a battle of wits. Hosts Greg Davies and Alex Horne devise a series of deceptively simple assignments for the competitors, ranging from pouring vinegar into a fish tank to throwing a pea as far as they can. But real challenge is how many laughs each competitor can get.
Is It Any Good?
This show's simple premise creates a nearly infinite number of enjoyable scenarios in which comedians problem solve in creative and unexpected ways. It wasn't until Jason Mantzoukas became the first American on the Taskmaster —in season 19—that the show finally got substantial attention overseas. There's something very satisfying about the way the competition keeps the comedians focused, casual, and naturally funny instead of working hard for laughs.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the tasks. What types of things are assigned to the contestants? Are they simple or complicated? Easy or difficult? Does anyone appear to be at an advantage or disadvantage?
What do we find ourselves laughing at in Taskmaster? Is the show's humor good-natured?
