What parents need to know

Parents need to know that The Adventure of Paddington is a charming 3D animated series featuring a young Paddington Bear. He learns new things, and shares lessons about persevering when things don’t go quite as planned. There are some moments where Paddington gets shot into the air, and endures other physical mishaps that are slightly more rough than than the 1990s animated series, but no one gets hurt, and they're presented in a silly, funny context. Like all Paddington shows and films, it features characters and accessories that are sold as toys.

Cute, But No Real Education

What's the story?

Based on the book character created by author Michael Bond, THE ADVENTURES OF PADDINGTON is an updated installment of the Paddington Bear franchise. Each episode features Paddington (voiced by the films' Ben Whishaw), who lives in London with Henry, Mary, Judy, and Jonathan Brown. He writes often to his Aunt Lucy about all the new things he’s learning. From trying to find a hobby that suits him, to accidentally using an antique stamp to mail a letter, the young Paddington has a lot of misadventures. But whatever mishaps occur, Paddington perseveres, and finds happiness in everything he does.

Is it any good?

This charming animated series offers lots of fun adventures and colorful mishaps. The Adventures of Paddington is a charming remake of the 1990s cartoon. The younger Paddington is gentle and polite, but his youth makes him sweeter and more curious. Meanwhile, his adoptive family and others offer him suggestions and advice to help him overcome whatever challenges he is facing. But it still offers some energetic moments, which will certainly elicit some chuckles. Overall, it's a sweet, entertaining show that preschoolers will enjoy.

Talk to your kids about ...

  • Families can talk about the lessons The Adventure of Paddington offers about what to do when things go wrong. How do the Browns help Paddington work through his problems and mistakes?

  • Why is Paddington Bear such a popular character around the world? What makes his personality so lovable, even though he makes so many mistakes?

  • Paddington is always very polite and well-mannered, even when he’s upset. How do you behave when you’re upset? Should we be more like Paddington?
