What's the Story?
As THE APARTMENT JOB begins, former gangster turned gambling den owner, Mr. Park (Ji Sung), finds himself deeply indebted to a dangerous politician. Hoping to solve his financial problems, he and his crew hatch an ambitious plan to embezzle a luxury apartment complex's hidden reserve fund, but what starts as a high-stakes heist soon unravels into a far-reaching conspiracy.
Is It Any Good?
This crime series stumbles somewhat through its early setup, piling the melodrama on with a heavy hand. Once the central con of The Apartment Job gets underway, though, it finds its footing. An increasingly elaborate embezzlement scheme, a delightfully absurd fake wedding, and a fascinating look at Korea's role-playing industry give the show its distinct personality. The two leads, Ji Sung and Ha Yoon-kyung, also bring warmth and humor to the crime caper, making it far more entertaining once its many moving pieces click into place.
