Parent and Kid Reviews

What's the Story?

THE COMPLETELY MADE-UP ADVENTURES OF DICK TURPIN follows the title character (Noel Fielding) as he ditches his career as a butcher and becomes the notorious leader of a gang of highwaymen.

Is It Any Good?

Fans who know Noel Fielding from his day job, slinging extreme Dad jokes for The Great British Bake-Off, might be surprised that he's able to carry a sitcom. Yet he's the anchor for The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, able to play the straight man one moment and then add an absurdist comic flourish the next. The series (loosely based on a real highwayman) feels adjacent to Taika Waititi's comedies, but better for younger audiences and, yes, funnier than Fielding's GBBO shtick.
