What's the Story?

Inspired by a book of the same name, THE DYNASTY: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS is a documentary series that delves into the football team's roughly two decades of NFL dominance. It features interviews with fans, journalists, and former players like quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady, former head coach Bill Belicheck, and team owner Robert Kraft, offering details about the dynamics within the franchise between 2001 and 2020. Extensive behind-the-scenes footage and lots of game highlights also detail the Patriots' highs and lows during that time. From winning six Superbowl championships to dealing with public scandals, it offers a rare glimpse into what makes the team one of the most beloved and hated teams since 2001.

This insightful docuseries offers viewers the chance to learn more about the inner workings of the New England Patriots during a historic winning streak. While the majority of The Dynasty: New England Patriots' episodes focus on key games, player squabbles with no-nonsense coach Bill Belicheck, and the various ways the team managed to stay on top, a few installments address more controversial issues. These include the impact two major cheating accusations had on the team's (and some of its players') reputation, and the way management turned a blind eye to tight end Aaron Hernandez's problematic behavior before his 2013 arrest and subsequent murder conviction. It's interesting as far as sports documentaries go, but what makes The Dynasty: New England Patriots stand out is how much previously unseen footage is incorporated into the narrative, and how candid the conversations feel, regardless of how uncomfortable the subject matter. Overall, fans of the sport will appreciate what is being offered here, despite who they cheer for during football season.
