The Eminence in Shadow
What's the Story?
THE EMINENCE IN SHADOW follows a high school student named Minoru Kagenou (voiced in English by Adam Gibbs) whose goal was to become a mastermind entity, or a puppet master that works behind the scenes, self-dubbed "The Eminence in Shadow." He was hit by a truck which killed him. Kagenou is reincarnated as a wealthy baby named Cid Kagenou in a world where magic and fantasy exist. At 13 years old, he meets a blob creature and unintentionally breaks a magical curse on it, which turns it into a magical girl named Alpha (voiced by Christina Kelly). He and Alpha create a magical organization called Shadow Garden to carry out their goals, including spywork and destroying the Cult of Diablos.
Is It Any Good?
This show is intense and mature with some upsetting scenes and topics, but overall enjoyable to watch. The Eminence in Shadow includes what some may consider excessive violence, and some sexual violence which can be uncomfortable to view. But despite the darkness of the topics, there's humor sprinkled throughout to balance out the tone of the show. Its even pace and unique plot make it an easy watch.
