What's the Story?

From the producers of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Inside Amy Schumer comes THE GREAT AMERICAN JOKE OFF, an unscripted, joke-driven game show featuring stand-up comedians. Each episode features two teams of three comedians competing in themed rounds that require them to come up with wisecracks and one-liners that will keep audiences laughing. Host Dulcé Sloan gets to choose which folks are the funniest, and which team wins.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say : Not yet rated
Kids say : Not yet rated

The silly series features comedians, most of whom are not household names, working their craft to keep audiences laughing under the guise of a game show. The contestants constantly try to one-up one another, but still find fun in each other's schtick. Despite each round featuring a specific theme, there's no rhyme or reason to the judging, which means that sometimes things go off the rails. The Great American Joke Off does offer lots of funny moments, but the humor is sometimes crude or raunchy, which only some audiences will appreciate.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about what makes stand-up comedians funny. Is it the jokes they tell, or how they tell them? Who decides if a joke is funny or mean or offensive?

  • Would The Great American Joke Off be less funny if the cast told jokes that were less risqué? Why?
