What's the Story?
THE HAPPETS is an animated series featuring a group of rag doll animals living in house on a clearing on top of the mountains. The Spanish import, which is based on book characters, features Mumu the Cow, Rita the Giraffe, Olga the Pig, Alfred the Dog, Milo the Bear, and Talalo the Tucan playing together and learning new things.
Is It Any Good?
This show, which has been translated into multiple languages, is an entertaining series designed to help small children discover the world around them. Each episode features the animal cast learning how to play new games, discovering new things, and problem solving. It also teaches lessons about friendship.
Adults may be put off by some of the choppy animation, but this is likely to bother them more than young viewers. Meanwhile, the bright colors and likable characters will draw children in, and each installment is brief enough to accommodate short attention spans. Overall, THE HAPPETS is a sweet show full of learning opportunities.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk what The Happets do together every day. What things do they do to have fun? Are there things that they do that you can do at home with your family to have fun, too?
Are the lessons shows from other countries teach children the same all over the world? Are there shows in the United States that would not be well received in other countries? What makes a show's lessons universal?
