The Night Agent
What's the Story?
FBI agent Peter Sutherland is on overnight desk duty after his involvement in a train bombing. THE NIGHT AGENT is holed up in a room manning a phone that never rings -- until it does. He's thrown into a conspiracy that goes deeper than anyone expected: into the upper echelons of the White House itself. Sutherland works for two bosses: Hawkins, deputy director of the FBI, and Diane Farr, the president's chief of staff, who are often at odds. He must figure out who to trust while simultaneously keeping witness Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) safe.
Is It Any Good?
This compelling thriller has its cheesy moments, but it's a worthy entry into the modern spy genre. Like fellow book-based shows Jack Ryan and Slow Horses, The Night Agent hooks audiences with an intriguing story and lots of action. Basso plays a bland but serviceable hero, and his evolving relationship with Rose is enjoyable to watch play out. While it doesn't quite feel like peak TV, it's a pretty gripping diversion with lots of twists and turns to keep viewers invested.
