What's the Story?

The Pitt centers around Dr. Michael "Robby" Rabinavitch (Noah Wyle), a senior doctor embarking on a 15-hour shift in the emergency room at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Dr. Robby refers to the ER as "the Pitt" because of the constant chaos and overwhelming number of patients. Following Dr. Robby and his staff from case to case, viewers get a glimpse into the reality of the life of an ER doctor.

Is It Any Good?

Medical dramas have long been a TV institution, but few if any have felt this immediate and realistic. The Pitt's depiction of a 15-hour ER shift in real time feels like a rush of adrenaline—ER for the TikTok generation. Doctors attend to patient after patient, crisis after crisis in the frenzied environment. And, though the series does seem to pinch common storylines from other medical dramas, the true drama comes from watching this staff fight its way through the night.

  • How does The Pitt depict the mental health or emotional health of the staff? The patients? How do mental health and physical health relate to one another?
