What's the Story?

The Buckley family are struggling on THE WATERFRONT. In Havenport, North Carolina, they run a marina, restaurant, and fish house that are all in the red. With his health issues, patriarch Harlan Buckley (Holt McCallany) turns to drinking and women, dumping the business onto his son Cane (Jake Weary). To keep the business afloat, Cane turns to drug smuggling. Bree (Melissa Benoist), a recovering addict, believes she could run the business better than her brother. But the family doesn't trust her, and every time matriarch Isabelle (Maria Bello) stops a leak in their empire, another one pops up. Can this family keep their legacy from sinking?

This series is violent and intriguing and has plenty of plot twists and mystery. The Waterfront is a solid entry into the family-crime genre; the cast portrays the characters' complex dynamics and personalities well. Parents will want to mind the language, violence, drinking, drug references, and sexual content.
