What's the Story?

TRIGUN STAMPEDE follows the story of Vash the Stampede (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka in Japanese, Johnny Yong Bosch in English dub), a pacifist outlaw with a very large bounty on his head. Unfortunately for Vash the price on his head and his widespread reputation are a result of the horrendous acts committed by his evil twin brother. Vash's life is constantly in chaos as he's hunted by bandits and military police seeking the bounty. Being a pacifist, Vash is forced to deal with these enemies in his own way, but when Vash's evil twin brother comes looking for him, Vash will have to do everything in his power to protect the innocent from his brother.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say : Not yet rated
Kids say ( 5 ):

This action sci-fi series is a fun, modern 3D refresh of a cult classic 1990s anime series. Since Trigun Stampede is a retelling of the original viewers don't need any prior knowledge to enjoy it. The 3D animation and art style are done very well, and the action sequences are fluid and fun to watch. The story had some flaws, with overused and predictable sci-fi and environmentalist plot points; overall, the setting and characters were more interesting than the plot itself. The world of Trigun Stempede is set far into the future with advanced technology but still apocalyptic as well -- it has the spirit of a spaghetti western with some Mad Max-styled punk scattered in.

No Mans Land is painted as a deadly and cruel world that's hard to survive. As a setting it's the exact opposite of main character Vash, who chooses to be loving and merciful to the hard and cruel people living on No Mans Land. Vash seems to be the only truly pure character in an otherwise broken world; he's like a messianic figure, which makes sense because the series is also full of moral and religious themes. Overall, Trigun Stempede works both as a standalone series and and as a good introduction for new fans to the classic Trigun series.
