Twilight of the Gods
What's the Story?
TWILIGHT OF THE GODS tells the story of Sigrid (voiced by Sylvia Hoeks), a half-human, half-giant warrior who seeks revenge on Thor after he murders her entire family on her wedding day. With Loki's help, Sigrid gathers a crew and traverses distant lands to face the god head-on.
Is It Any Good?
This action-packed drama is a potential hit for fans of Snyder films or mythology retellings, but some of the potential depth gets a little lost. Twilight of the Gods is a different take on well-known Norse figures, but it's not necessarily a fresh or inspiring one. The story tackles some pretty heavy topics and is fairly grim, so it's not for the faint of heart. Younger viewers may require additional context to really understand the cultural nuances in the plot and character development.
It's a good show for sparking an initial discussion or just for enjoying a new dark fantasy adventures. But it would have been nice to have a few more moments of reprieve between all the sex and violence to flesh out the characters a little more beyond their base archetypes.
