What's the Story?
In UNCLE FROM ANOTHER WORLD, Takafumi's uncle has awakened from a coma in which he has spent the past seventeen years. When his uncle comes to live with him, Takafumi quickly observes bizarre behaviors exhibited by his uncle: he speaks in an unrecognizable language, he's obsessed with video games, and he seems to have spent his comatose years in another world. Perhaps most surprising is the magical power his uncle now possesses. Takafumi realizes he is tasked with bringing his uncle up to date on modern life -- namely, modern technology. What will his uncle teach him? How will they bridge the gap between the other world and the real world?
Is It Any Good?
This highly anticipated anime series is a delightful tribute to the 90s and early 2000s with its sly references to flip phones and Sega Genesis. Uncle From Another World offers subtle comedy that will bring about chuckles in the generation that came of age around the time Takafumi's uncle fell into a coma. The dynamic between Takafumi and his uncle hooks viewers and contributes to the suspense. Anime fans will likely love it. For those who are not into anime, this show may be the way they fall in love with a new genre.
