What's the Story?
Dinner parties are usually UNSUSPICIOUS -- but the guest list might make you look twice. When wealthy playboy Jorginho Peixoto (Paulo Tiefenthaler) sends dinner party invitations to various lovers, everyone assumes he's up to no good. Recipients include his current wife Patrícia (Fernanda Paes Leme), current girlfriend Theyllen (Thati Lopes), and ex-wife Bete (Maíra Azevedo). They bring along their families, who witness as Jorginho tries to get these women to sign a document that equally splits his assets among them. When they realize Jorginho has also scammed them, the women refuse to sign. After Jorginho turns up dead during a power outage, blundering detective Charles Nunes (Marcelo Médici) drops in to solve the case: Who killed Jorginho?
Is It Any Good?
This show has the right ingredients for a classic comedy/whodunit story, but the final dish comes out chaotic and jumbled up. Unsuspicious attempts to handle too many characters and plotlines at once. Bits don't have time to land or breathe, and the stereotypes don't make it any better. There are moments when the set-ups do pay off, especially the physical comedy. Overall, the mystery plot could be intriguing, but it's doubtful that viewers will get their mystery fix or laughs out of this. Constant swearing and slapstick violence might make it suitable for older teens.
