What's the Story?
WAHL STREET begins in early 2020, when actor Mark Wahlberg appears to be in full bloom. He is shooting back-to-back movies while juggling his many business ventures, including a clothing line, a fitness company, and a fast food chain. Then the pandemic hits and everything comes to an abrupt halt. Wahlberg must figure out how to adapt his life and businesses to the demands of the shutdown, while taking care of the many people who depend on him for their livelihood.
Is It Any Good?
The 2020 COVID-19 shutdown seems to have turned what was meant to be a routine puff-piece about Mark Wahlberg's entrepreneurism into something of a teaching moment. Wahl Street cycles through Wahlberg's many business ventures, and only paints him in the best light. Throughout the series, Wahlberg is seen building relationships with his partners and employees, taking care of his family and those who depend on him, doing charitable works, relying on others, and showing empathy and understanding for those hit hard by the pandemic. Though it's essentially PR, and will likely appeal to his fans only, at least the messages are spot on.
