A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that The Wedding Season is a dark comedy about a couple on the run after there's a murder at a wedding. Language includes "a--hole," "d--k," "hell," "f--king," "t-ts," and British swear words like "shagging." There's drug use and social drinking. The plot focuses extensively on marriage and dating, and we see making out and mostly clothed sex scenes. Violence includes blood, physical fighting, and some graphic medical scenes (like a tracheotomy procedure).
What's the Story?
It's WEDDING SEASON, and doctor Stefan (Gavin Drea) is surrounded by marriage and engaged couples. After having an affair with the engaged Katie (Rosa Salazar), Stefan crashes her wedding in hopes to elope with her. He fails, and barely gets home with his tail between his legs before he's arrested. Two detectives (Jade Harrison, Jamie Michie) interrogate Stefan about the deaths of Katie's husband and his family at her wedding. An emergency interrupts his interrogation, and before long Stefan is being pulled on the run by Katie. Stefan thinks she did it, she denies it; the police think Stefan did it, he denies it. Either one of them is lying, or there's a whole new meaning to "till death do us part."
Is It Any Good?
Marriage might last a lifetime, but this show's mixture of mystery and comedy makes it a fast-paced, enjoyable short-term relationship. Wedding Season's comedic bits and sides are a good balance of ridiculous yet funny. The combination of level-headed characters and off-the-wall ones creates witty, clever dialogue. The strong language and sexual content make this more suitable for older teens.
