What's the Story?

WEEKEND FAMILY takes place in Paris, France. What better backdrop for a love story? A dad (comedian Éric Judor) who has daughters from three (ex-) wives finds himself falling in love with a young psychology student named Emma from Quebec, Canada. But his dating life has strings attached: He has the girls on the weekend, which makes life very complicated and colorful. Will Emma stick around to raise his kids with him? Can he manage to keep everything afloat?

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say : Not yet rated
Kids say ( 1 ):

Is it a man's fantasy to have an excess of women in his life -- or his nightmare? In Weekend Family, the protagonist, an osteopath named Fred, is going to find out. Are there stereotypes of ex-wives at play? Sure. There's the businesswoman who's a perfectionist, the cuckoo foreign actress, the serious gay chef. What works well in this show is the realistic portrayal of life in a two-bedroom apartment in Paris: It's messy, crowded, and colorful. The kids all have distinct personalities, and humor is in good supply.

Though this show flows best with the original French and rapid-fire subtitles, the dubbing is decent. It's not quite as funny if you chose the dubbed version, but still fun nonetheless. Tweens and parents who are in the mood to binge on a Parisian family comedy will not be disappointed.
