What's the Story?

A mysterious, black-clad woman (Melisa Sözen) checks into a luxury hotel with her childlike daughter Bambi (Eylül Tumbar). While they aren't caught doing anything wrong, there's something very suspicious about their behavior that attracts the attention of the hotel staff. When a distant relative recognizes the mother, they're on the run once again, living their lives as fugitives -- but why?

Is It Any Good?

This series stretches out the mystery to a near-frustrating point, but it's well-done enough that viewers will want to keep watching. Who Were We Running From is an odd duck of a series, from Bambi's kid-chic outfits to Mother's inexplicably rude behavior to nearly everyone she encounters. But it's compelling, cinematically shot, and a rare Turkish treat for mystery lovers.
