Widow's Bay
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is the mayor of Widow's Bay, and he's made it his mission to bring tourism to the secluded island. As the town starts to receive media attention, a suspicious death brings out the residents' deeply held superstitions. In order to save the island, Loftis must face off against its ghosts, real or imagined.
Is It Any Good?
Horror comedy tends to be a niche genre, and this show brings it to streaming TV in a way that honors both parts of that genre alchemy. Widow's Bay builds real suspense with its legends and ghosts, but in a way that also leaves plenty of room for gags (e.g., a board game called Teeth, which just turns out to be a pair of pliers in a box). The result feels unique and intriguing, though the show also seems to be figuring itself out as it goes, making it inconsistent from episode to episode.

How does Mayor Loftis' attitude change through the course of the series? What motivates these changes?
What do you think is going on with the island? Does your opinion change from episode to episode?
