Young David
What's the Story?
Before David defeated Goliath, he was a teenager who lived with his brother and cared for his sheep. In each episode of the series, an aspect of his character is highlighted in short stories that portray his bravery as a Warrior, sense of justice in King, tenacity as a Shepherd, sensibility as a Poet and faith as a Worshiper.
Is It Any Good?
Visually stunning, this CGI adaptation brings the past to life. With beautifully choreographed scenes, Young David is at its best when provoking laughs, protecting his herd, and playing with the sheep. The relationship between David and the animals and the show's sharp sense of humor elevate this religious series.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about David's determination. He accepts the mission of looking after animals and is very responsible at caring for them, even putting his life at risk. What are some ways you see that in the show? Is there a time when David should have done things differently?
The show is set in a time earlier than ours, where the available resources were different. Parents can encourage their kids to notice the space and tools David uses, like his lyre and slingshot. How do you think kids like David would play? What would they eat? Where would they sleep?
David is a biblical figure and often talks to the heavens, putting his faith in God. Talk to your kid about the various religions and the common values shared by them and seen on the show, like kindness and care for animals.
